The kids have been waiting all season for the right kind of snow to make a snowman. And it didn't come until March. This is a snowman that Tyler, Adeline & Dallin made before school. Later that day every school playground I drove past had large snow balls scattered around.
It's spring! Mud, mud everywhere! Funny story about McKay this week. First of all, when I want my kids to do something and they're not cooperating *gasp* I count backwards to 1. That way no matter what number I start with they know exactly how long they have to get the thing done or to come or what have you. In fact, when I was first teaching Adeline to count to 10 I would ask her what came after 2 and she said, "1". Ha ha. So the other day McKay was going around "counting" and saying "2, 1, toming (coming)!"
Adeline has been begging for months for some play makeup. Unfortunately, all the play makeup I could find was actual makeup, just in kiddy colors. So I made my own. No, I am not that creative. I found the idea online. Basically you empty the powder and add in craft foam. Yep. It's that easy.
I bought the powder & eye shadow from Dollar Tree so I didn't feel bad getting that powder out of there. And I tossed the little brushes and applicators that come with the makeup because I just knew she'd be losing those in no time. I found the brush at our local grocery store for another $1 -- I didn't find any brushes at Dollar Tree. I also saw that the grocery store had the eye shadow applicators there for $1 also, and I plan on getting her one of those as well. The mascara is one of my old ones that I was getting rid of. I took out the rubber stopper and washed it out with dish soap and really hot water -- takes some time. And then I disinfected both the lash brush and the tube in rubbing alcohol.
I bought the craft foam at Hobby Lobby for $5. And I cut out the squares and hot glued them in.
Ta da! Adeline absolutely loves it!
And I have lots of foam left over for anyone who wants to use it to make their own!
We had dinner with some friends and Tyler enjoyed playing on the Wii with his friend, C. We really need to get one of these things...
